Finding Books, Videos & Course Reserves: Course Reserves

Learn how to find books, videos and more in the ACC library.

What is a course reserve?

Reserve items are materials that are expected to receive high use. For this reason they are set aside, usually at the circulation desk, for easy access for students and faculty. The materials on reserve  are assigned shortened loan periods and require more stringent overdue penalties to insure their availability.

All sorts of materials are placed on reserve by instructors who want to give students in their classes equitable access to those materials. Typical materials may include:

  • cataloged books from the Library collection, or un-cataloged personal copies of books,
  • sample exams, lecture notes
  • DVDs or CDs

Reserve items are usually kept at the circulation desk, this is the same desk you use when you want to check out books or laptops.

How do I find a reserve item?
