Faculty Teaching Toolbox: Testing Outside the Classroom

The Faculty Teaching Toolbox is a resource for faculty and staff that provides an introduction to some of the many instructional support services offered by Austin Community College.

What are the ACC Testing Centers?

The ACC Academic Testing Centers provide an atmosphere conducive to testing for Austin Community College District's college credit courses. They provide a variety of testing and proctoring services for both students and faculty.

How do I access the ACC Testing Centers?

ACC Testing Centers are  located at ACC campuses.

The hours of operation vary by campus/center so be sure to check before planning a visit.

How do I use the ACC Testing Centers?

ACC Testing Centers offer instructional testing and retesting for all courses and initial testing for all Distance Learning and approved lecture courses. Exams can be administered as any type listed below or a combination of these:

  • basic written exams
  • objective or scan-based exams
  • computerized exams using Secure Online Testing service

Exams for Distance Learning courses must be submitted to all locations. However, exams for lecture courses may be submitted to as many or as few centers as necessary; although, to minimize wait lines, as broad of a distribution as possible is encouraged.

What do I tell my students?

Tell your students if you plan to offer a Testing Center option for one or more of your exams. Let them know where the Testing Center is located on your campus and how long your exam will be available there.

Does one of your students require special testing accommodations? Contact  Student Accessibility Services  for more help and information.

If your students need to take the Compass (Placement/TSI/ESOL) or Anatomy/Physiology exams, these services are available through the Assessment Centers. Please visit the Assessment website for more information.
