Faculty Teaching Toolbox: Syllabus Software

The Faculty Teaching Toolbox is a resource for faculty and staff that provides an introduction to some of the many instructional support services offered by Austin Community College.

What is Lighthouse?

Lighthouse is the software ACC faculty use to comply with Texas House Bill 2504, which requires institutions of higher learning to provide the Course Syllabus and Curriculum Vitae for every course and every instructor at the college. This information must be accessible within no more than three links from the ACC homepage and it must be available no later than the seventh day after the first day of classes.

How do I access Lighthouse?

Open your internet browser from any computer on or off ACC campus.

Type in (or click on): https://eapps.austincc.edu/lighthouse/

Login using your ACCeID and password.

Once logged in to Lighthouse, you will find a new screen. You now have options to access your Syllabus, Curriculum Vitae, or Office Hours.

Under “What You Need to Do,” you will find a list of tasks you need to complete.  This is specific for each individual logging on to the system.

How do I use Lighthouse?

Before logging into Lighthouse, make sure you have the most recent electronic copy of your Curriculum Vitae, Office Hours, and Syllabus.  Having these documents ready will enable you to copy and paste information instead of having to type all of the information into Lighthouse.

When you login you will see a link for a tutorial on the right-hand side of the screen. It has information on how to use Lighthouse with step-by-step instructions.

What do I tell my students?

Tell your students that all course syllabi and faculty contact information are available through the ACC Course Schedule. Encourage them to explore this resource when they are deciding which classes to take. If they need more help with this decision, remind them that the Advising & Counseling Office is available for assistance and support.
