Getting Started with Health Careers

Use the tabs above to start exploring library and web resources related to careers in the health sciences. Don't have a career in mind but want to browse some options? Take a look at the:

  • Occupational Outlook Handbook

This online publication (also available as a book) is produced by the U.S. Department of Labor and covers descriptions of careers and work environments, training needs, expected salaries and lists of related careers. Updated annually. To browse for health related careers, try these two sections:

  • ExploreHealthCareers.org

"ExploreHealthCareers.org is a free, multi-disciplinary, interactive health careers website designed to explain the array of health professions and provide easy access to students seeking information about health careers."

  • LifeWorks: Explore Health and Medical Science Careers

A product of the National Institutes of Health Office of Science Education, this site offer education and career information, mentoring contacts, and more. Although it is aimed toward high school students, there's much that might be useful to college students, too.

Also, you might want to look at the Research Guide for general Career Information.
