Library Responsibilities

Assist:  provide reference service, in-person, by phone, and online

Teach:  provide information literacy instruction to individuals and to classes

Serve:  Library Services Tech Team

           Diversity Facilitator

Select and maintain the Northridge Library reference collection

Develop book, media, and online collections to support:

Active in the American Library Association 1996 - 2006:
ACRL (Association of College & Research Libraries); RUSA (Reference and User Services Association); LITA (Library and Information Technology Association) Internet Resources Interest Group Program Chair, 1999-2000: planned program for ALA annual conference: "Library Web Sites: The Next Generation;” LIRT (Library Instruction Round Table); Black Caucus of the American Library Association; and REFORMA: The National Association ot Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking.

Collaborated with Teaching Team, Instructional Design and Speech faculty to design SmartMouth tutorial for SPCH 1315 (Public Speaking), 2006.

Collaborated with librarians on Chemistry 1111 Lab Library Research Assignment Tutorial. Piloted the use of the tutorial, its handouts, and using wireless laptops for instruction at NRG with campus librarians and chemistry lab professors. The tutorial won recognition from the Texas Library Association Library Instruction Round Table Library Instruction Project of the Year Award in 2003.
