Definition of Monster Theory from Jeffrey Jerome Cohen's "Monster Theory (Seven Theses)": "a method of reading cultures from the monsters they engender" or, in your professor's words: a type of literary and cultural criticism that looks at monsters and monstrous characters to see what they reveal about the cultures that created them.

British Literature: Survey of English literature from Anglo-Saxon times through the 18th Century. Examples of texts/authors read include Beowulf, Arthurian myths, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Chaucer, Kempe, Spenser, Milton, Swift, Defoe, and Shakespeare.
