When you use the words or original ideas of another person in your writing, you need to document--or give credit to--the sources of those works or ideas. If exact words from the original are used, quotation marks are necessary. If you paraphrase or restate the idea in your own words, quotation marks are not required, but the documentation of the source is still required.
For this assignment you will most likely be using CSE (Council of Science Editors) -- CS (Citation-Sequence) citation.
Pages 2-3 of your Lab Notes serve as a template to help you fill in the information you will need to create your citations. Most of our databases have a citation feature, but unfortunately not for CSE-CS. The closest citation style to CSE-CS is AMA, which we do have available on some of our library databases.
