GOVT 2306 - Sinegal - Fall 2025: Campaign Strategy

Running for an Elected Position in Texas

This assignment is based on Course Measurable Learning Outcomes number 6 (analyze the state and local election process), and it is divided into two parts. This assignment is worth 60 points. Students will pretend to run for an elected position within Texas, except for the gubernatorial (governor) position. As discussed in Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Practicing Texas Politics by Brown et al., there are several things that Texas candidates must do and consider while they are campaigning. In this assignment, you must address these factors. Before starting this assignment, read these four chapters. Students must handle a series of questions; these questions are located in a Google Sheet entitled Running for a Position in Texas, located in Unit II of the Course Content.
