"Working with history is a privilege. As with all privileges, however, that involves making choices. This Montopolis History Timeline is a broad overview of a beautifully complex neighborhood in Austin. It tells difficult stories about the segregation of Mexican, Mexican-American, and African American community members. It tells inspiring stories about the individuals and grassroots movements that fought for social justice. It tells thought-provoking stories about how Austin Community College has played a role in shaping the neighborhood. But the timeline only provides a high-level overview, hoping to inspire all students of history to do further research and form personal relationships with stories that make Montopolis so vibrant."
