
Faculty Accountability and Evaluation: Progress in meeting key teaching, institutional, and public service goals across its 11 campuses. At Austin Community College (ACC), faculty accountability and evaluation refer to a systematic process of assessing and improving performance, including student feedback, classroom observation, and a performance plan, ultimately aiming to enhance student learning and success.
Adjunct faculty: non-staffing table employees of the College who hold an academic rank or title and are paid using the adjunct faculty pay scale.
Faculty: employees of the College who hold an academic rank or title and are paid using a faculty pay scale.
Full-time faculty: staffing table employees of the College who hold an academic rank or title and are paid using the full-time faculty pay scale.
Staffing table: the status of College employees who are eligible for benefits and who accrue leave.
Faculty Evaluations vs. Discipline:
Faculty Support: Faculty support encompasses but is not limited to resources, guidance, and assistance provided to faculty members to enhance their teaching activities and obligations. Support can also include professional and training opportunities, including opportunities for the health and well-being of faculty.
Men of Color: Refers to men who do not identify as white, encompassing individuals from racial and ethnic minority groups such as Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian, Native American, and Pacific Islander backgrounds.
Belonging: Seeing yourself represented/considered in the classroom.
CILA: The Change Initiative Leadership Academy (CILA) is a faculty learning community with a focus on decreasing withdrawal rates in the top eight high-enrollment, high-withdrawal courses at ACC: EDUC-1300, ENGL-1301, ENGL-1302, HIST-1301, HIST-1302, MATH-1314, MATH-1342, and MATH-1414 (you may have also heard it referred to as RELA).
SB17 (Senate Bill 17): Texas law signed in 2023 and effective January 1, 2024, restricts public higher education institutions from engaging in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) activities, including banning DEI offices and mandatory training.
Parenting Students: Parent or legal guardian of a child under the age of 18.

Online Learners: Online learners at ACC are students who take courses through ACC’s Distance Education program, primarily delivered via the ACC Online platform. These students access their coursework remotely through the Blackboard learning management system or other digital tools, allowing them to study at their own pace or participate in scheduled virtual sessions.
This student body includes: Continuing Education, Adult Learners, Dual Credit, and For Credit students
Types of Online Learning at ACC:
Asynchronous Online Courses: Fully online with no scheduled meeting times; students complete coursework independently while meeting deadlines.
Synchronous Online Courses: These are fully online but require students to attend live virtual class sessions at scheduled times.
Hybrid Courses: A combination of online and in-person instruction, where students are required to attend a part of the lecture in-person, and a part online. The class modality alternates between in-person and online instruction.
Hyflex: A flexible learning model that allows students to choose between attending in-person, participating in live online sessions, or engaging asynchronously.
