Write a 1000-word (minimum) research paper that is informative and uses definition/classification as an organizing pattern. This paper is similar to Paper 2, except that it uses research. You must use at least six reputable sources, which can include books, journals, blogs, or articles. Three of these must come from sources you have researched on the ACC Online database. Sources can all be online (preferably from the ACC Database resources). Remember that the definition of a reputable source means that either the site or the author can be proven to be an expert or credible on the topic. If you find a source on the ACC Database, it is usually reliable. Your topic will be a controversy currently occurring in our country or around the world. Your primary task is to provide the reader with information on this topic, enabling them to understand its background as well as the various viewpoints on the controversy. You will give information on your topic in an objective and thorough manner (referential and informative), and you must organize your paper using different categories that define this topic (classification), as well as discuss the different perspectives in the conversation on the topic (analysis). You must have at least one in-text citation from at least six different sources, and you have to use direct quotations for most of the sources in the paper (i.e.-minimal, if any, paraphrasing). You must document (cite) any specific information, whether quoted or paraphrased, that you use in your paper (if you didn’t know the information before you read the source, you need to cite it). For this paper, you must also create a properly formatted MLA-style Works Cited page. This paper will resemble the example essays in the Reporting Information chapter from Paper 2 (including research).
