Introduction to This Guide

Welcome to the guide for Psychology! 🧠

The Psychology program at ACC endeavors to teach students about the inner workings of the mind and impart a broad knowledge in human behavior and mental processes. There is a variety of information available through the library about the topic of psychology, both in physical form and digital. Use the tabs on the top to navigate through the guide and find the help you need.

This guide will discuss specific types of information. Look at the table below to learn more about each type of resource you may encounter in this guide and get a better idea of what type of resource you may need and where to find more information.

Type Description
Reference For background information, reference materials like encyclopedias, atlases, and dictionaries are great resources to learn about important people, places or events, and definitions especially if you're unfamiliar with the topic.
Books Books can provide detailed background and in-depth historical information about the given topic, often written by subject experts. They're a good place to start if you need to learn more about the topic and get the basics.
Articles Articles from journals, magazines, and major newspapers can serve as a source of information about new developments and recent scientific findings in the field of psychology. Use the library databases to help locate these articles.
Websites You can often find additional sources of information, such as government agencies and professional organizations, on the Internet. Just make sure to evaluate those sources carefully to ensure they're credible. There is also a sub-page with information on mobile apps.
Videos Video can cover a wide variety of information, delivered through audio and visual channels. They can come in the form of a documentary, lecture recording, etc. Educational videos are often created using other resources like those listed above.
