SDEV 0111 Transition to College Success: 2. Find an Article

Introduction to the ACC Libraries- includes content from former course: HUDE 0111

Find an Article

magazines

Articles in periodicals (newspapers, magazines, scholarly journals)
are one of the most useful sources for research.

Use Library Databases to gain access to thousands of periodicals through online databases (or e-resources). These databases are  library subscriptions, so you will find more reliable sources than if you just search using Google or Yahoo.

  • Find one article on your topic.

Academic Search Complete is a database designed for college student research - with lots of articles from newspapers, magazines and newspapers, plus lots of other sources.  (If you are off-campus you must use your ACC eID to get access.)

Search Tip: If your search words are a phrase, such as study skills, put the words in quotation marks. You can also combine phrases in quotation marks with other keywords: "time management" college.  You will get more focused results.

  • Use your same topic and find one good article. List it on your worksheet.
