Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys : Introduction

Austin Community College Library Services is one of the 843 libraries and state humanities councils selected to receive the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf, a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities Bridging Cultures initiative.

Announcement

"On January 9, 2013, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announced that 843 libraries and state humanities councils in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will be awarded the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf, a collection of books, films, and other resources that will introduce the American public to the complex history and culture of Muslims in the United States and around the world.  In addition to the books and films, institutions awarded the Bookshelf were given access to Oxford Islamic Studies Online for one year." This guide serves as the Austin Community College Library Services virtual Muslim Journeys Bookshelf.  It introduces the collection and enables interested readers to request materials online. 

When you have found library items in this guide you would like to borrow, click on the title, then

--Click Request This Copy to get a title that is not available at your campus library

--Enter your ACCeID number and password on the pop-up request form

--Select a Pickup Library from the menu, then click Request Item(s)

Log out once your request has been completed.

It may take 4-7 days before your item is transferred to the pickup campus.

Most books and media items are loaned for two weeks.  You may renew your material if it has not been requested by another borrower. 

To renew materials online, go to My Account.

The Bridging Cultures Bookshelf: Muslim Journeys is a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities, conducted in cooperation with the American Library Association, the Ali Vural Ak Center for Global Islamic Studies at George Mason University, Oxford University Press, and Twin Cities Public Television. Support was provided by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York. Additional support for the arts and media components was provided by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art.
