Applied and Interactive Theatre Guide

The Folger Shakespeare Library

The foremost collection of drama-related web sites. Scroll down the screen to see lists of specific topics. The host site of Theatre-Central is Playbill, which covers the current theater scene and is updated daily.
Theater History on the Web
The "Area Studies" section is probably the most useful. It is divided into six time periods. There are also many related areas for theater studies. Maintained by a retired University of Washington drama professor.

Links to sources on many aspects of staging, including props, special effects, sound, wardrobe, etc. Also has extensive glossary of stage terminology. From the University of Exeter Drama Department (in Britain).
National Theatre Black Plays Archive
Production Plays by black British, African, and Caribbean writers in the UK. The Black Plays Archive does not include performance poetry and art, readings, revues, cabaret, recitations, sketches, or puppet shows. The project focuses solely on the premieres of these plays and as a result, does not provide information for all subsequent productions.
Theater History on the Web
Includes links to theatre-related historical material, such as Historical Periods sections, theatre production projects from the early days, and links to materials useful to scenic and lighting designers, to costumes, and to others seeking links to design materials
