Assistive technology (AT) is used to improve the functionality of persons with disabilities and may include software programs, equipment, or adaptations to systems.
Mobility aids, or ambulatory devices, are a type of assistive technology that specifically assists with movement.
When principles of Universal Design are followed, spaces are designed to be accessible and easily navigated by all people with no adaptations.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides guidelines for creating curriculum, including supplementary materials, assessments, and teaching methods, that provide equal opportunities to learn.
ACC Library Services is committed to making its collections and resources accessible to students, faculty and staff with disabilities. Library Services strives to conform to standards set by the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990. Computers in ACC libraries have magnification and screen-reading software. Headphones are also available for use. Some libraries have text enlargers and other assistive equipment. Please call or chat online with us for information on available equipment at each location.
