In this collaborative assignment, you will work in pairs to create a playlist that analyzes how popular music both reinforces and challenges dominant cultural narratives about who we are in the world, how we see ourselves, and how others see us. This project builds on your previous work with summary/response and rhetorical analysis by adding multimodal persuasion and critical engagement with music as a popular cultural change-making force that can be a vehicle of self-expression through which we assert willpower and agency.
