Please join us for a series of gatherings aimed at supporting our Iranian Riverbats and others in our community with ties to Iran. These gatherings will provide a space for those impacted by the political violence in Iran to come together, build community and collective empowerment, and process the challenging developments taking place inside Iran. Each event will feature Persian tea and sweets, live music, and facilitated dialogue aimed at processing the collective trauma that is impacting the Iranian community at large.
Featuring musical guest, Mohammad Firoozi, who will lead us in singing emancipatory anthems both new and old.

In this session, participants will have an opportunity to come together and engage in yoga practice for stress reduction. This session will be led by Persian-speaking, Iranian American therapist Geeti Shirazi Mahajan.

For our final event in this series we will take the opportunity to gather and celebrate the coming of Nowruz, the Iranian new year which corresponds with the arrival of Spring and serves as an eternal symbol of renewal and rebirth. Participants will enjoy a dinner of Persian cuisine and live music and have an opportunity to reflect on their hopes and aspirations for the new year.

The ACC Asian American and Pacific Islander Cultural Center, Officer of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and the TRHT host a listening session at the ACC Flex Studio @ ACC Highland, Building 2000 (Room 2.1420). The event and conversation are aimed at supporting AAPI Riverbats and others with ties to Asian communities and offers a space to come together, build community, learn about the Lunar New Year (including its significance and meaning), and process the recent tragedy that unfolded at a Lunar New Year celebration in California. The event will include cultural teas and refreshments and facilitated dialogue. An ACC counselor also will be available for additional guidance and support. The event is free & open to the public. Space is limited. Please register early to reserve a seat.
Come join LXSU as we partner up with BRASS and Truth Racial Healing Transformation Center at the Highland Campus as we have a pre-Juneteenth celebration on June 15th from 12:00 - 2:00 to celebrate the importance of the holiday, with a movie, food, and a discussion.
Through exercises, discussions, and presentations, faculty will strengthen their knowledge of equitable practice. We will explore a framework that will improve retention and success of students from historically underserved communities. We will also discuss how to adapt teaching methods to engage students using equity designed principles.

February is Black History Month, an annual celebration of the accomplishments and contributions of Black Americans to culture, society, and community. Austin Community College District (ACC) welcomes students, employees, and the community to commemorate the month through a series of hybrid and virtual events.
