Fall '25 - HIST 1301 - Darbonne - by Kara Dixon: Turabian Examples (Bibliography)

Bibliography

A bibliography is a list of all the sources you used and consulted while researching and writing your paper.  It should be on its own page at the very end of your paper.

  • Each entry gives full publication details so your reader can find the source themselves.
  • Unlike footnotes or endnotes, which point to specific quotes or ideas, the bibliography gives an overview of every source that helped shaped your work.

Formatting Quick Tips

  • List sources in alphabetical order by the author's last name or the first word of your citation.
  • If you are citing more than one work by the same individual, arrange entries alphabetically by title.  After the first entry, replace the author's name with six hyphens (------).
  • Single space all entries, leaving one blank line between each.
  • Use a hanging indent if the entry is more than one line in length.

Anatomy of a full citation: book with one author (Bibliography)
