The BatLab Digital Art + Technology Forum is an upcoming series of monthly events sponsored by ACC Library Services BatLab Makerspace. The events will be held at the ACC Highland Campus; they will focus on bringing ACC students and faculty together to explore how technology and open-source development is impacting the creative world. Each month, a special guest artist/technologist/maker will present their work, discuss how technology has impacted their work, and provide useful tips as to how students can achieve similar results. Students will have the opportunity to both witness real-world uses of open-source technologies and to discuss ideas with creative professionals that are impacting this continually shifting paradigm. Additionally, this event will serve to promote the BatLab Makerspace, as well as promote interdisciplinary collaborations between ACC Library Services and other departments at Austin Community College.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS/GOALS?
Each special guest will provide students with examples of “maker success” in the real world, as well as to help demystify STEM/STEAM ideology through inspiring talks, demonstrations, and discussion.
