Welcome and what you'll find here

The Faculty Teaching Toolbox is a resource for faculty and staff that provides an introduction to some of the many instructional support services offered by Austin Community College.

These services support and enhance our faculty's instruction and, thus, support and enhance our students' learning experiences.

Scaffold Your Students' Success!

Student ascending staircase of books

  • Use this collection of ACC resources to answer your students' questions before they ask!
  • Include links to this material at various points of need throughout your course materials, syllabus, and assignments, offering support in a just-in-time fashion.
  • Your students will be more likely to achieve success if they have the answers they need at their fingertips.

Need help identifying potential points of need in your course? Think you have found them all, but want another set of eyes to review? Contact a faculty librarian on the Information Literacy Team or an Instructional Design Specialist on your campus.

Concerned that your students lack the skills to be successful using online supports? Assign them to review introductory computer skills elements from the Learning Resource Toolbox and/or Learning Express at the start of your course.

Please do not refer ACC students to use the library at UT:

Problems with access to library resources and services include the following-

  • If not a UT student, students cannot access UT databases remotely
  • If an ACC student goes to the UT Library, computer access is limited to one hour per day
  • If an ACC student goes to the UT Library and has one hour of computer access, the student does not have access to all library databases

If you need help setting up your class assignments using ACC Library resources, please Ask a Librarian for assistance.

Mobile Apps for Student Success

Apps (little software applications) allow you to customize your tablet to do the things you like to do. Some of the apps listed are free, while others are fee-based. Additionally, some apps are initially free, and then require in-app purchases if more features and functionality are desired. Listed, you will find some app recommendations we have come up with through trial, error, and our own experiences.

ACC Library Services does not endorse any fee-based apps nor it is liable for reimbursement of any apps paid for by patrons. Please refer to the Tablet Circulation Policy for further details.
